PREMIER AMPUTEE COMMUNITY (PAC) SUPPORT GROUP

If you will be facing an amputation or have a limb deficiency, it can feel like nobody understands and that you are alone. You are not alone. Premier Amputee Community (PAC) Support Group was designed to match more recent amputees with more experienced amputees to offer support, guidance or just someone to listen and understand. Please take the step and contact us today if you are interested in being part of our group.

Peer Visitor

Peer visitors are individuals who want to share their stories in order to help someone else in a similar situation. Successfully living with limb loss, these peer visitors are available to give support, education and encouragement to new amputees and their families.

Support Groups

Taking part in a local support group may help you to adjust to your amputation and introduce you to further resources in your area. Most areas throughout the country have access to at least one support group for people with amputation. Contact Premier Prosthetics for more information.

In addition to being a great resource for meeting people and learning more about adapting to your amputation, support groups provide a chance for you to help others through serving as a peer counselor. Your prosthetist, therapist, or physician should be able to refer you to the support groups in your area.

Online Support

If you have access to the Internet, you may subscribe to an online amputee mailing list. Some people join e-mail based groups because there is no support group in their local area, because they do not feel comfortable going to a conventional support group, or because they are simply looking for more information about living with amputation. Taking part in an online group, or listserv, allows you to e-mail with other amputees or simply sit back and read the discussions that take place.

National Support

The Amputee Coalition operates a National Peer Network, where you can also get in touch with other people with amputation in your area.

For more information or to request a visit from an Amputee Coalition certified peer visitor, contact one of our Patient Care Coordinators or our Premier office at 210 340-2181.
